Mission Statement
The Surfrider Foundation is a non-profit environmental organization dedicated to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves and beaches for all people, through conservation, activism, research and education.

In partnership with other Surfrider Foundation chapters and a coalition of marine protection organizations, our mission is to protect the unique resources of the Monterey Bay and Gulf of the Farallones National Marine Sanctuaries.

Our Blue Water Task Force water quality testing program strives to improve the purity of water flowing from our coastal streams. Other chapter programs maintain, expand and improve public access to our region's shoreline, our beach cleanups keep our beaches free of trash, and we offer a variety of educational events to the public.
