Surfrider San Mateo County Chapter

Current Volunteer Opportunities

The San Mateo Chapter of Surfrider Foundation is a grassroots volunteer organization. There are many different ways to get involved and a variety of roles to choose from to fit your interests and skills.

Below are some of the current volunteer opportunities where we need help. Our chapter is only as strong as its volunteer base. If you’re interested please contact Kari Mueller (chair@smc.surfrider.org) or Britt Bensen (vicechair@smc.surfrider.org)

Volunteers Currently Needed

Volunteer Coordinator – The Volunteer Coordinator is one of the most important jobs in the chapter. They provide the critical recruitment support that keeps the chapter running. If you like meeting people and building a team of environmental warriors join us.

Event Coordinator – The Events Coordinator is a person who likes to have a lot of fun and throw tons of cool parties! Our Chapter is an entirely volunteer-based organization and without some serious merrymaking, we’d have a much harder time sticking to our agendas. Come help us party!

Chair – Are you a cheerleader and champion of clean beaches and healthy oceans? The Chair helps coordinate and oversee the team, supporting the programs and campaigns, and being the voice for the Chapter. If you’re interested in being our fearless leader please reach out.

Co-Policy Manager – The Policy Manager collaborates with coalition partners, state agencies, and advisory bodies to support coastal policy initiatives. If you’re interested, helps us bring divergent voices from the community into the policy process. If you like to make change, this is a rad position.
