Our Sharktober event with the California White Shark Project at Hop Dogma in OCT was a huge success. Over 75 friends and newcomers came to listen to Scott and Paul present their latest shark research in our local waters.
We also had a great time the next week with former Surfrider president, author and San Mateo resident Rob Caughlan, as he spoke about his book A Surfer in the White House (and Other Salty Yarns).
He recalled one of Surfrider’s first big environmental victories that he was a part of, initially dubbed ‘Gidget vs Goliath.’ The growth and importance of orgs like Surfrider / Surfrider San Mateo County. And encouraged individual participation or active citizenry is as needed today, as it was in the 1970s and 1980’s when he started.
If you couldn’t join us, there are signed, first-edition copies of his book (printed on recycled paper) available locally @norcalsurfshop in Pacifica. Regular copies are available online at Amazon (5 STARs)
