San Mateo Chapter Local Issues & Programs:
Blue Water Task Force
The Blue Water Task Force (BWTF) is a chapter-based, water quality monitoring program run by volunteers. We test the water at our San Mateo County beaches, and sample upstream in our watersheds to monitor sources of beach water pollution. Learn more.
The San Mateo County Chapter and its allies are working together to keep Martin’s Beach open to the public, including the families who have enjoyed it for generations. Learn More.
Ocean Friendly Gardens
The Ocean Friendly Gardens program is part of Surfrider Foundation’s Clean Water Initiative, an integrated approach to ensuring clean water and healthy beach ecosystems. Learn more.
The San Mateo Chapter is working to re-establish a regular beach clean-up schedule for our local beaches. We currently need volunteers to join us on these clean-ups on a monthly basis. If you are interested in volunteering your time to help keep San Mateo County beaches clean, please contact us. It’s a great opportunity to work on something that you care about, to give our beaches some love and support!
