A win for diversity in surfing in Pacifica!

The Pacifica Parks, Beaches, and Recreation Commission has approved the proposal by Brown Girl Surf and City Surf Project to create a separate Community Access Partnership Permit (CAPP) system for Linda Mar beach. The Commissioners affirmed their commitment to more equitable access and approved a first phase of six months, during which they will learn and refine the CAPP program.

The San Mateo County Chapter of Surfrider Foundation applauds the Pacifica PB&R Commissioners for their commitment and work on this issue. We thank and congratulate Mira Manickam-Shirley, Executive Director of Brown Girl Surf, and Johnny Irwin, Executive Director of City Surf Project, who have shown tremendous leadership on this issue.

During the process all public verbal and written comments have been in support and we thank all of you, our members and supporters for helping to drive this change! You made a difference!
